Charles Brandes

As the Founder and Chairman of Brandes Investment Partners, Charles Brandes shares responsibility for driving the firm’s strategic decisions. In addition to the firm’s All-Cap Investment Committee and Investment Oversight Committee, Mr. Brandesserves on the Brandes Institute Advisory Board.

Mr. Brandes became a student of the value investment philosophy after meeting Ben Graham, widely considered the father of the value investing. When the bear market of 1973-1974 created unusually large long-term opportunities for disciplined, patient investors, Mr. Brandes decided it was time to launch his own firm, and founded Brandes in 1974.

Mr. Brandes has authored two books, “Brandes on Value: the Independent Investor” (2014) and “Value Investing Today” (2003). He has served on the boards of various organizations involved in scientific, charitable and cultural work.

Chris Larsen

Chris Larsen is Executive Chairman of Ripple’s board of directors and former CEO and co-founder of Ripple. Prior to Ripple, Chris cofounded and served as CEO of Prosper, a peer-to-peer lending marketplace, and E-LOAN, a publicly traded online lender. During his tenure at E-LOAN, he pioneered the open access to credit scores movement by making E-LOAN the first company to show consumers their FICO score.

Paul Denning

Denning & Company, a FINRA registered firm, headquartered in San Francisco was formed in 2001 to serve the global private equity fundraising needs of both veteran General Partners seeking to broaden their L.P. base, as well as the next generation of Private Equity and Private Credit Managers. Prior, Paul had been at Hambrecht & Quist as the Managing Director of the Private Equity Market Group and became co-head of the J.P. Morgan Private Fund Group after the merger in 1999.

Appointed by then San Francisco Mayor, Senator Dianne Feinstein, he served 7 years pro-bono as a Trustee and Commissioner of the City and County of San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System, a $15 billion Public Employee Pension plan.

He graduated with honors from the University of Akron, Ohio and later received his Master’s Degree in Public Finance. He served in the U.S. Navy as an officer and carrier based aviator from 1966 to 1970.

Karl Schade

Karl founded Presidio Investors, a middle market private equity firm based in San Francisco, in 2007. While he is a career private equity investor, Karl has also served as CEO in two different businesses. From 2013-2016, Karl served as CEO of The Presidio Group, a financial services company with over $4 billion of assets under advisement. And during 2011, Karl served as CEO of Hattrick Sports Group, a Presidio Investors portfolio company.

Prior to Presidio, Karl was a private equity investor with Blum Capital Partners, Silver Lake Partners and The Blackstone Group. While at these firms, Karl spent the majority of his time investing in the target industries of Presidio Investors: technology-enabled services and financial services. Karl earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College.

Satya Patel

Satya Patel is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews Asia and manages the firm's Asia Credit Opportunities Strategy and co-manages the firm’s Asia Strategic Income Strategy. Prior to joining Matthews Asia in 2011, Satya was an Investment Analyst with Concerto Asset Management. He earned his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2010. In 2009, Satya worked as an Investment Associate in Private Placements for Metlife Investments and from 2006 to 2008, he was an Associate in Credit Hedge Fund Sales for Deutsche Bank in London. He holds a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and a B.A. in Business Administration and Public Health from the University of Georgia. Satya is proficient in Gujarati. Satya has been a Portfolio Manager of the Matthews Asia Strategic Income Fund since 2014 and of the Asia Credit Opportunities Fund since its inception in 2016. 


Tripp Jones

Tripp is a General Partner with August Capital and invests broadly in information technology companies, with a particular focus on consumer internet and enterprise applications software. Tripp also leads August’s Special Opportunities fund.

Tripp led August’s investments in ADARA, Bark & Co, CommonBond, Compology, Hipcamp, Paperless Post, Rocketmiles, Quandl, Wattpad, and Yumi, and was involved in August’s investments in Avant, Ebates, Fastly, INRIX, Integral Ad Science, Mirantis, PubMatic, RJMetrics, Rockets of Awesome, and Zulily.

Prior to joining August Capital, Tripp spent the previous four years at Menlo Park-based Spectrum Equity Investors. Earlier in his career, Tripp was an investment banker with JMP Securities and BMO Capital.

Tripp is a graduate of Princeton University.

Dr. Emre Erdogan, CFA

Emre Erdogan is a Senior Research Analyst for CSIM. He leads the research team which is responsible for designing and implementing asset allocation models for Schwab’s multi-asset strategies. His role includes researching strategic asset allocation, maintaining and enhancing glide paths for Schwab’s target date funds, and strengthening portfolio construction and risk management capabilities.

Prior to joining CSIM in 2011, Mr. Erdogan was a quantitative developer in the Research & Development Group at Bloomberg L.P., where he built U.S. and international equity and fixed income multi-factor risk models. He was also a quantitative analyst at ING Investment Management.

Mr. Erdogan earned a Master of Science and a Doctorate in Operations Research from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey. He is a CFA®charterholder.



Jason Huang

Mr. Huang is a veteran in the securitization business for over 20 years.  Born and raised in Taiwan, he came to the U.S. in the early 90’s to pursue graduate study in engineering. After graduation, he went to work for a FinTech start-up in providing asset securitization platform, Wall Street Analytics, and got involved as Ginnie Mae’s Financial Advisor in the Multiclass Securities Program from 1996-2000. Later he worked for LaSalle Bank as the Vice President in managing an analytics team in structuring CMBS and RMBS transactions.  He moved on to First Franklin Financial Corporation, a mortgage originator, in 2004 as the SVP heading the RMBS issuance. First Franklin was later acquired by Merrill Lynch and he started to transition his roles to Merrill’s RMBS global issuance. Post financial crisis, he was moved to Bank of America as an SVP overseeing the structuring and analytics for the trustee operations. Mr. Huang founded Alpha Financial Engineering in 2016.

Mr. Huang holds dual MS degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering and Operations Research from Stanford University.


Dr. Karsten Jeske, CFA

Karsten Jeske is a Director in Asset Allocation Research at Mellon Capital Management in San Francisco. His research involves global forecasting and developing new strategies and solutions in the global macro multi-asset universe. Previously, he worked as an economist in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and as a visiting economics professor at Emory University.

His academic work has been published in numerous top-ranking academic journals including the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Monetary Economics and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.

Karsten received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Minnesota and he also attained the CFA® designation.

Joann Barry, CFA

Joann Barry is an Equity Market Specialist with Bloomberg, sitting at the intersection of clients, product development and sales, helping Bloomberg clients with fundamental research, portfolio analytics and enterprise solutions.

Joann has 20+ years in active equity management as both a Portfolio Manager and an Analyst. Prior to joining Bloomberg, she was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Tradewinds Global Investors, a Nuveen affiliate. Her primary strategy, the All Cap Equities which included the Value Opportunities Fund, received Lipper awards for 10-year performance. Joann also worked at Deutsche Asset Management, Farmers Insurance and MetLife.  

She attended the University of Illinois (BA in Economics) and Rice University (MBA in Finance).

Charles Field

Charles is an entrepreneur and investor dedicated to leading companies as they define emerging business opportunities. As co-founder and managing partner of Sunlight Capital Group, LLC, Charles is responsible for capital raising, deal origination, transaction structuring & execution, and operating the acquired company. Charles brings more than 15 years of experience in operational leadership and private company investing. He’s demonstrated leadership and success in strategy, sales, product and business operations for many private companies.

Early in his career, Charles worked at The Carlyle Group making investments and advising their portfolio companies for their US Venture Capital Fund. He also worked in the corporate finance group at Robertson Stephens, where he covered the technology services industry advising companies on private and public financing opportunities and mergers and acquisitions.

Charles holds an MBA in Marketing from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in Economics from Amherst College.

Charles is the past alumni president for his class at Amherst College. He is an active member of his Rotary Club, and currently serves as treasurer of Rotaplast International, a nonprofit providing children free reconstructive operations and treatment.
